Her New Deal

Dying of the curious

by Her on February 11, 2010

I’ve only had this particular blog for a few weeks now, and I’ve already had more hits and subscribers than my photography blog gets (which, yeah…I know, I need to post more there).

I am curious. Who are you?

You’re more than welcome to be here! I’m just a curious gal.

We’ll be out of town for a couple days–my alma mater is hosting a series of lectures on ancient Roman art that we’ve been dying to attend. The Geek isn’t the only geek around here, you know. We’ll be there, then we’re really hightailing it out of town on MONDAY. We move on Monday.

We’ve been unloading boxes at UPS, and it is so liberating. Even if we (the Geek, ahem) get cold feet again, our stuff will be somewhere between here and Massachusetts. How wild is that? I did cringe a little at sending off the iMac today, but we’ll have a sweet little reunion soon.

This busy-ness is an incredible thing. The miscarriage isn’t the first thing on my mind every morning anymore, and I don’t have to wake up and remind myself that I’m not pregnant anymore. The only time it really hit me hard this week was when I went for a massage–the intake form has yes or no checkboxes next to questions about health issues. I *almost* lost my composure when I had to check the no next to ‘Are you pregnant?’

It was really the first time I’d had to face that question point blank. It’s all a bit weird though, because I am still chemically pregnant. You’d think that having a positive pregnancy test right now (as of this morning) would be something to rejoice, but it’s definitely not in this case, though it certainly will be in a few months. I can’t wait for everything to level out so that my body can catch up with my mind about moving on.

Anyway.

I have my new address now, so if you need to update the old one, let me know.

And, please, humor me by telling me who you are! I’d like to follow along with your stories too. Tell me something about yourself…what color you can’t stand, your first goldfish’s name, have you ever tried Green Magma + orange juice (YUM!!), anything!

Also, my Twitter handle has my name in it, so if you want to follow me there, just shoot an email to hernewdeal at gmail dot com.

You know I’m reading regularly. Good luck with the move!

My first goldfish was named Ariel and had a Little Mermaid aquarium.

You make me want to move, especially to Boston. And something about myself: I feel creepy commenting on blogs when my reader says it was posted “seconds ago.” But, there were other people here before me, so it’s okay. ;)

You know me! But what you don’t know is that I am not a fan of the neon highlighter vomit shade of yellow. It’s okay for highlighting papers, I guess, even though I prefer pink highlighters, but it looks terrible anywhere else. Brown is also a non-favorite, but less vehemently so.

Also, I sent your Valentine and I’m really really really hoping that with all the snow it still gets to you in time. If you don’t see it before you go, I’ll make you a new one and send it to Boston! :)

You know who I am, but thought I’d say Hi anyway. :D

You know me. I follow you everywhere. I still have your old blogs in my Reader, just in case.

Wow. That unintentionally sounded way creepy. I only follow you on the Internets. (I love your writing and your photographs.) My betta fish’s name is Valentino.

Oh, you know me! But you don’t know that I’ve never had a goldfish, though I desperately wanted one as a kid. My mom always said no because we had cats, but I think she really just didn’t want to deal with the inevitable goldfish funeral scenes.

Hey lady! The goldfish I got for myself my freshman year of college (2004) just passed away in my Mom’s classroom a few months ago. Sad news. His name was Jon Stewart. :-)

You know me! :] & I’m so happy that you’ve found a place to call your own, without the daunting eyes (& voices) of people you’d rather not be associated with.

<3.

You know me! I’ve just been a tad absent from commenting lately; sorry!

And I’d LOVE your new address.

I’m glad the pain is dulling a bit; you’re a brave, strong woman and I admire you more than you could possibly know.
Travel safe and totally enjoy geeking out. I love stuff like lectures & art exhibits!

You know me too — you probably know way more about me than you’d like to know. And maybe we’ll meet someday soon once you’re settled up here in Beantown!
