Down, up, down, and down again

by Her on November 16, 2011

Down:
The last month has been full of both intense excitement and extreme grief. The post is long, because these weeks have been long and weary, but there is a sweet picture at the end.
If you follow me on Twitter, you’ll remember that one of Eric’s childhood dogs passed away shortly before we left for our [...]

It wasn’t until I had the first miscarriage that I learned how horribly common pregnancy loss was. I was floored–it is so common, yet I felt utterly alone. I told very few people in real life about our loss. It was private and I didn’t think there was a way or reason to share it [...]

August to August

by Her on August 4, 2010

I’m nearly at the 17 week mark of this pregnancy, and I’m leaving for BlogHer in New York on Thursday.
When I bought the pass to BlogHer much earlier this year, I did it with the intent of alleviating what I thought would be a stressful August. August is a bit of a loaded month for [...]

An addendum

by Her on May 2, 2010

The Geek pointed out that my last post could be seen as extra mopey, but I really didn’t mean for it to. We were both cracking up when we read it, actually. His grandma doesn’t know better, because she doesn’t even know that we’re trying to have a baby, so it made it that much [...]

Nope, no stork

by Her on April 30, 2010

I should never mention any kind of illness to the Geek’s amazingly sweet grandma (who is mailing tortillas our way), who has no idea about the miscarriages, because this will be the response:
…People at Alamo said they would be all right to ship by regular mail, so please let me know when you get them.  [...]

I’ve never really trusted doctors.
As a kid, I used to get searing pain in my upper back. I was incredibly active–I trained several days a week in Tae Kwon Do, and I even won the state championship in sparring. So yes, active. I saw at least 4 doctors for that pain, and was prescribed everything [...]
